Hi There!
I was on OPT from Jan 1st 09 -> Oct 1st 09.
From Oct 1st 09 I am on H1.So, I am not sure as which tax forms to file for federal return.
It would be great if I can get any suggestions.
Thank you for your time!

If you did not complete 5 years on F-1 and are single, file nonresident tax return. Your U.S. Tax Return: The U.S. Visas (http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/08/us-visas.html)

Thanks Mukata for your reply, so should I still take the exempt of the India US tax treaty amount from my total pay for the year ?

Thank you for your time :)

Yes, on 2009 tax return claim treaty deduction as you have OPT income. File forms 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ and 8843. Your U.S. Tax Return: U.S. Tax Filing Requirements for Non-Residents (http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/03/us-tax-filing-requirements-for-non.html)
