Plumbing Survey - I have a small house in Cincinnati, built in 1890. We are remodeling the bath (2nd floor) and kitchen. I already have a 2" drain pipe in the ouside wall for the bathroom. The tub was draining through 1 1/4" to a lead pipe to the cast iron stack. It was also draining "uphill"! I'm going to replace all the plumbing from the meter (the shutoff doesn't really work to well) and use brass ball valves for shutoffs as I got them 1/2 price. I plan on 3/4" from the meter to the water heater and 3/4" cold to the bathroom. Everything else will be 1/2". So - my question is - PEX, CPVC or copper?

- my question is - PEX, CPVC or copper? It's whatever you're comfortable using.
You will need special tools and skills to tun copper.
Pex has its own special tools but is easier to run in tight spots.
PVC and CPVC would require no special tools and is easy to work with, however, you would have to fit around tight areas.
As I said," It's whatever you're comfortable using." Good luck, Tom

After a trip to the local HD. I priced copper vs cpvc - WOW! Cpvc is 1/3 the cost. I've sweated pipe before but am not comfortable in tight spots. I need to investigate PEX further.
