There is approx 1" square shroud or shield surrounding thermocouple making the thermocouple connector innaccessable. I would like to know how to remove this shield. Furnace is Coleman LP gas model 7680A Series 856. 80,000 BTU Serial 127564502

ON some furnaces you will have to take out a burner to get to the screw or screws that hold the "Square" in place. After you get it to where you can put a small wrench on the nut (some have a nut holding the thermocouple in place some the thermocouple will just slip into the slot). Once you are ready to put it back in place use a wrench to tighten the nut that holds the pilot gas tube in place, they can leak from moving them around.
