View Full Version : Does cranio sacral therapy have anything to do with mind control like hypnosis

Went to such a therapist who claimed to be able to read me - my thoughts and why I was there by just looking at me . He seemed to be staring at me out of the corner of his eyes though he'd have his head down. He would place his hands on my head and just concentrate and tell me that my liver and spleen were the problem. Not sure if I imagined it but I did seem to feel better (for awhile) after anyway. ( I am not into mind control by someone I just met or know well for that matter - so was guarded.)
Kust wondering.
I have had sacro-cranial therapy - which I'm guessing is the same thing. I'm in England - it may be termed slightly differently if you are in America. It was a very gentle form of osteopathy - nothing to do with mind contol, although the practitioner could tell a lot about how different parts of my body were working. The treatment mainly involved him placing his hands on my head in what felt like an extremely gentle manner for long spells, and then I would suddenly feel something move in my scalp, as he was adjusting things up there. Sometimes he would work in a similar manner on my lower spine.

The cranium is the skull and the sacrum is at the base of the spine - hence the terminology.

A good sacro-cranial therapist should be able to detect a lot about how your body systems are functioning but not read your mind - are you sure that's what he said - not something like he could read you and tell what was wrong? (meaning he could read it from your body's workings)

I found it a very helpful treatment but you do need to be confident in your practitioner and if he claims to be able to read your mind that sounds very odd to me...

He told me I was "blocking him" is what made me wonder and I thought how else could that be except with my mind ( as in hypnosis). I very much appreciate your response & I may try it again but with a different therapist . Thank you so much..
No idea what he could have meant by that but I think you are right to hunt around for someone you are happy with. It is supposed to be a relaxing form of treatment and you aren't going to feel relaxed if he seems a bit odd to you or you don't get where he's coming from.

As with any treatment find someone who works in a way you feel good about.

Sometimes people who practice alternative therapies mix in a bit of other things when they work or just put on an air of being a bit sort of 'the all powerful healer' - not sure how to explain that better. The ones I prefer to deal with are always open and down to earth about what they do.

Good luck finding someone you are happy with and hope it is helpful to you.

Thanks so much for your good advice. The treatment did make me feel better in some way after and now after discussion with you I believe I will pursue having treatment again. As you say maybe this fella was just putting on a bit of theatrics or trying some other new thing on me .
I do know his world view (faith belief) differed from mine. You have been been great to talk to. Thanks and best regards to you.

P.S. But it will be with a different therapist - I meant to say .

Cranio-sacral is about awareness - feeling the body very clearly and that can lead to some insights that seem miraculous, or like mind reading, but are probably just deep knowledge of the body.

"Blocking" probably means that you didn't trust them and couldn't relax into their care. Find someone that you can trust and it will be much better.
