Looking for any movies that are considered works of genious.
For instance I saw Shawshank Redemption that way.
In the way of romance, Notebook and PS, I love you.
I'm leaning toward romance works of genious, but would appreciate anything.
Please list the genre along with the recommendations.
Thank you,

What do you consider a work of genius? Well written? Turned from novel into screenplay? Well acted?
Try any of the films which have won the Academy Award for best movie.
Why do you think PS I love you is a "genius movie"?

I think PS I love you was well-written, the acting was all right.
Well written, or well-acted mostly. But anything that just hits you really hard as an "I can't believe I never saw that movie before, how the f*** did the writer think that up/actors pull that off?"

If you believe in the wisdom of crowds: IMDb Top 250 (http://www.imdb.com/chart/top)

Not particularly, esp. not IMDB. Checked that list a million times. Not to mention less than 1/15th of those movies have any kind of genious in them.

I think genius is in the eyes of the beholder, anyway.

Indeed it is, which is why I it requires opinion, and I'm asking for it.

I thought Memoirs of a Geisha was absolutely beautiful. Also, Fearless with Jet Li.

Can't go wrong with any Stephen King movie or:
Almost Famous
American Beauty
Legends of the Fall
Menace to Society
To name a few~!

American Beauty! I can NOT believe I didn't mention that one myself. I happen to love most movies that are narrated so that one really set well for me.
That movie is poetic in some awesome ways. Speaks to the nature of the way a lot of people are living in their own little worlds, and it becomes their end.
In that way it was like a Stephen king movie, because in most of his works, it's the people's own faults that do them in.

Ah The Notebook worst fight my wife and I have ever had.
We started to watch it 10 minutes in I said this movie is so predictable That is his wife and he is reading their story to her cause she doesn't remember. Needless to say I did not have a good night after that. I can't help you with romantic movies. But I think anything from Stanley Kubrick is genius.

500 Days of Summer is probably one of the best romance movies I've ever seen! It's a clever, witty, disordered telling of a fractured romance.

Butch Cassidy; The Way We Were; Somewhere in Time.
There are so many.
Yes, Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid, The Sting, Cool Hand Luke... African Queen...
There is a good one called the Sword Of Gideon, it's about the attack in Munich, at the Olympic Games. It's a true story.. about revenge. I like it.
