I have a Rheem heat pump unit. A White-Rodgers 1F80-51 thermostat was connected up with the A/C cooling cycle working, but for heat, only the strip elements in the air handler come on. The thermostat is wired; white to W, red to RH w/jumper to RC, blue to B, nothing to O, yellow to Y, green to G, and a brown wire to Nothing.

I have two experts saying the following; the thermostat is just wired wrong, while another is stating the thermostat is just incompatible with the Rheem and must be changed out.

Suggestions/help please,

Michael

The stat is only for one stage heat and I believe you need 2 stage since the outside HP needs one and the electric strip elements need another.

hvac1000, you might have an interesting read there but I'm getting a "page cannot be found" error. How about checking on this.

Emerson has taken over the White Rodgers info area so the link has changed. Try this.
