I owe the IRS $3,769.47 in back taxes from before the year 2000 and now I am on SSI and I am barely making ends meet. Please help, I don't know what to do.

If SSI is your ONLY income source, the IRS CANNOT, by law, garnish this income to pay back taxes.

If they are attempting to do so, contact the IRS Tax Advocate to find out the procedure to stop the garnishment proceedings.
