Hello!
For a while now Ive been thinking of taking up tap dancing classes but I have a few questions and concerns that I hope someone could answer. My biggest concern is, my thighs. They are my number one enemy. I really really dislike them, and want them to be more slimmer. And I was wondering, does Tap Dancing help slim down thighs? Or do they just get all big and muscular? And also, if I take classes, this would mean I would have to be surrounded by strangers, and in my mind, when you tap dance, your thighs move, meaning my would jiggle.. alot.. Im extremely conscious about my thighs. So is there specific clothing you have to wear? Like something tight? Leotards or something? Is something abit baggy aloud? Or a long shirt? Any info is helpful! Thank you~

Oh and by the way, Im 15 now. Do you think Im too old to start now?
I always hear about kids starting to do things like dance, music, sports, etc etc at such early ages..

Hi, Jinxz!

Any kind of fast type of dancing would potentially help to tone the muscles of the person doing the dancing.

What you would wear would depend on the occasion. You would have practice sessions with a class, rehearsals for class shows that would be for the public, and, if you tried out for a musical theater production of some kind, rehearsals for those too.

Why not give it a try? It's an opportunity to learn something new, make new friends and learning how to tap dance could open up a lot of opportunities for you!

I don't think that you're too old to start. I was trying jazz dancing in a class when I was 28.

Thanks!

I took my first tap dancing class about two years ago at a community college. I was 18. There were actually people of all ages. I really didn't notice any one else's thighs, or any other body parts. I was too focused on trying to get the moves right. It was a great experience.

Why not try parachute pants? Works for me. Xx

I mean like the parachute pants are baggy and would disguise thighs.
