I woke up this morning to a number of emails from irate members of my Hotmail contacts list. Apparently I got a virus that sent out an email to every one in my contact list that invited them to get great discounts if they visited a particular site. Apparently a virus is in the email as some of my contact's AV software detected it.

Here is my question: how can I hunt down and fix this issue? I am embarrassed to say that this is the second tme it has happened in the last 6 months.

I have and run SuperAnitSpyware, AVG Free, Malwarebytes and Trend Micro House Call. All I ever get are warnings the I have "low risk" tracking cookies.

So bottom line, what can I do to hunt down and get rid of this trojan horse? I am convinced it is till on my PC

Try getting an anti-virus that you pay for. I'm not a big fan of the freebies.

Also, you need to take more care opening mail you don't trust.

Thanks for the help Scott. I will try the paid AV software, although I have in the past with mixed results. I run Stopzilla on my son's laptop and have some issue with it as well. Which would you recommend?

As for your comment, "you need to take more care opening mail you don't trust." Please. The orignal email was sent from a friend, as was mine to my friends.
