I just got off my period cycle today I would like to know when should me and my husband start having intercourse to try to conceive since my cycle is irregular

I would recommend a home fertility test, like first response. It will tell you your peak fertile days, because even when you are in menses you may still be ovulating, which is why it is possible to conceive while you have your cycle. Also, semen can live in the body for up to 7 days after intercourse, so knowing your most fertile days will give you a better chance at conception. Also, you may consider checking your discharge daily, if it is very fluid you are probably not ovulating, but if it is sticky between your fingers and forms a sort of long string when you pull them apart, you are probably ovulating. The body thickens it's mucous during ovulation to better adhere fertilized eggs to the uterine lining. Hope this helps!
