Who know's about the Walbro LMB carb that's on a Jacobsen snow blower? I have a specific question regarding the type of needle that was on this Jacobsen that I just bought. It has a small spring inside of the needle and no way to attach it to the float. Is this the old style needle for this unit. I've never seen this before. Also I have a no spark situation. This unit has points, condenser, and a separate armature. When I removed the flywheel, it was so clean I was amazed. Actually this whole unit is in very good condition. But my question is, do condensers go bad from sitting or age? I cleaned the points from a light film and checked the gap to be .020, everything was good as far as I could see. I also disconnected the cut off wire going from the condenser and tried again and still no spark. How do I check the gap for this units armature and what should it be? There doesn't seem to be any way to get my gauge in between the armature and flywheel. I can't acess the back side because it is covered by part of the flywheel case/cover--mounted to the crankcase. And of course the front is covered by the flywheel. There has got to be some way because there are slots for the armature to slide up and down before you tighten it. Please help!

Hi,
It sounds as if you describe a Tecumseh ignition. If so, thoses slots time it only. I do not know of one with a Walbro LMB, Kohler and Briggs sure. Can you provide a bit more engine info?
Peace,
Clarke

Hey Clarke, I'm glad to hear from you. There is an engine tag with the words " engine number " on it . The # is 4M 113319. Other than that there is a number on the actual machine that is 52002 2169 . With this number it says Jacobsen Mfg. Co. Racine, Wi. . Other than these there are various other numbers stamped in different parts of the engine block but they look more like parts ID numbers. Nothing like a Tecumseh # that I know of. On top of the machine there is a sticker that reads " Jacobsen 321 Engine ". Other than these I wouldn't know what else would be of use. There is nothing stamped on the blower housing like on a briggs.

Also Clarke, I'm online sporadically, so bear with me. I won't be back on until later this evening, maybe after 5:00 or 6:00. Thanks man.

Hi,
This must be an older machine from that info, and I do mean older. Sounds like one of the old Jacobsen two-cycle engines not produced since the 1980's! Totally did not expect to see an inquiry on one. Have not seen one in about 20 years. Worked on 100's about 25 years ago.
The condenser can degrade with time. You can find it mentioned here (as a classic):
Models 2 | Classic Engines (http://classic-engines.com/jacobsen-2/)
Oops, stand corrected by a different site. Older than I said. See:

Peace,
Clarke

Just to let you know, after cleaning the points and setting the timing I got a nice blue spark! I got the manual from a guy who downloaded it to Flicker, kind of blurry but if you know what you are looking for it can be a great help. Well after I put it back together and fixed up the carb, I had her spittin snow last night at about midnight. This is one sweet machine. I think I'm in the old engines club now, what a challenge.
Thanks for everything,
Eric

Sounds like it's a clinton engine,
Hard to find parts for,
That's the model carb they used on lots of them
