Should I feed my maltese people food, chicken & beef with peas or green beans with vitamins?

Home made dog food can be very difficult.
It's very hard to get the right balance of nutrients for them.
I agree that a lot of the time it's healthier but I went through a about of wanting to make my own food and I just got worried that they weren't getting everything they needed and switched back to store bought stuff.

One of our Shih Tzu's when she became very old would not eat dog food any more. My mom started feeding her ground chicken, lamb or beef with rice. She had to buy special enzymes and vitamins and supplimets to add to the food. It ended up being more costly then normal quality food dog food.
If you are feeding your dog a good quality food, for small breeds, specific to her age, then she would be getting all the nutrients she needs.
You can always add fresh veggies, fruit, and yougort to your dogs diet of dog food. Just make sure to add gradualy to avoide any shock to the system and diahrrea.
