If you're not using contraception and you're wondering why you're not pregnant, then I would say you ARE trying to have a baby.
Have you been to a doctor about why you can't conceive? Have you even talked with your partner about having kids?

No I haven't been to the doctors yet. Yes me and my partner have talked about having kids we would both like kids we decided to come off all contraception and if it happened it happened. What I mean about not trying is we don't predict when I will be most fertile or anything.

Hi leisco
There is stuff you can get in the chemist to help predict your best concecption times, this is very common in women of all ages...
Some contraception can still be in the system for awhile after you stop taking them and stressing over getting pregnant can delay conception as well
For your baby making plan best see your doctor so he can do test to see if mother is healthy enough to get pregnant or see if there is an underline problem as to why you can't get pregnant

You could always go to a fertility doctor. It may be that you'll HAVE to plan in order to get pregnant. It could be that he has a low sperm count. Or you only drop an egg every other month. Or a million other little reasons that can make it difficult to conceive.
I'm sorry if I offended with my first post. We see far too many people on here who are ill-prepared and/or ill-informed. We also see a fair number of women trying to get pregnant without their partners knowing. Until we know all the facts, we try to be cautious about offering advice.

Maybe it's time to help nature along a little. Figure out when you ovulate. Maybe go to a fertility doctor. Apparently letting nature take care of itself isn't working right now. Put a little more planning into it.

Timing is everything when trying to conceive.
Once you actually start tracking your fertility and still see no results within a year (maybe less since you haven't already been using contraception) that is when most doctors recommend seeking medical intervention.
