My father recently moved into a nursing home. His wife no longer wanted to take care of him and has never returned to the home they once lived in together. She moved away to another country. No divorce, she just visits him in the nursing home within the same country. My sister is his POA because he is not of sound mind. He has prepared no will either. We want to protect my father's house in Florida which he and his wife use to live in. We do not want her to get the home when he passes away and my father would agree upon that if he was of sound mind. My father's wife's name is not on the deed and the home is "homestead exempt" but we want to know if we should add my sister to the deed as "Joint Tenant Right of Survivorship" to the house so when my dad dies it will still stay in the family.

Is your sister's power of attorney a durable power of attorney?
