My husband was brought to the USA when he was 4 years old and as a teenager he received his resident card. He does not know if his mom filed for him to become a citizen or not. The thing is that he is now 32 years old and he's always used his ss# as a " citizen" number. We are afraid to go and find out since we do not have any confirmation. I need some advise as of what to do or if its safe to go to an immigration lawer.

If he has a Social Security Number, he probably is a citizen. I do not know immigration law, but as an employer a Soc.Sec. card and a driver's license are what I'm required to see to prove an employee's eligibility to work.

That's the thing he's been working with his ss# and ID since he was 16 yrs old at multiple jobs. Do you know if there's a web page or something were I can check out his immigration status?

Other than the Social Security Administration's webpage, which is very hard to navigate, I'm afraid I don't. You might also try asking a civics teacher at your local school.
