Hello and thanks in advance to anyone reading.
I had a strange problem with my upstairs unit here in FLA. During the winter I turn my unit to off and fan to auto and everything is fine. Oddly, I heard the unit running and even though it was set to off, fan auto , the upstairs was 95 degrees and there was no way to turn off it off other then flipping a breaker. When I turn the breaker back on the aux heat kicks on again full blast. (therma displays that everything is off)
I disconnected R and W wires from white Rodgers thermostat and it still runs, then from the unit and it still runs. The outside unit is not running and no temperature change on the heat pump coils inside the house, just the aux.
Took a look inside the unit and all I see is a control board, limit switch, transformer, and rectifier. From reading other posts on here seems I need a new control board? Found one online I'm sure I can handle it but want to put this out there before I invest. It's a tempstar

Thanks again!
