Oh it's beautiful! It's called a schefflera plant.

Here's a great site to help you with the care of your plant.

Schefflera, Schefflera arboricola, Umbrella plant, Dwarf Umbrella | Plant-Care.com (http://www.plant-care.com/schefflera-arboricola.html)

Yes, just going to say that ! I always knew it as umbrella plant and here is more information gleaned from my houseplant book:

Scheffleras are somewhat sensitive to temperature and humidity. They are native to regions that are warm and wet, so it is good to try and replicate this for your plant. It is best if temperatures stay around 70F during the day and don’t go below 60F at night. Keep the plant away from drafty areas like doorways and radiator vents. Humidity can be supplemented my misting or by using a humidity tray. You can also try grouping several plants together.

Very sensitive to temps. Any time I would move one of mine from one room to another it would die. I eventually learned to keep the darn thing in the spot that made it happy! :p

Your welcome!

Follow the care tips here:
Schefflera - The Indestructible Bonsai (http://www.bonsaihunk.us/info/ScheffleraBonsai.html)

For straggly go 'bout half way down the page, and start reading at Re-potting and Pots, The Defoliating And De-budding, and finally Reductions Or "Hacking Back".

With it being Winter it suggests not to fertilize at this time.

See Indoor Cultivation, a little above the straggly reading.
