I have the following questions:

My employer is collecting F1 and medicare taxes but is not collecting social security tax. My status changed to H1B from OPT on October 2009.

1) Do I have to pay the social security tax to my employer for Oct, Nov, Dec and Jan months.
2) If the answer to the above question is "NO", then will I loose the social security benefits/refunds after 40 quarters for the above months?
3) If I want to go back to my home country after a couple of years, can I claim my social security benefits?
4) If my social security tax has not been withheld for the next 2 years then can I claim the employer's share of social security tax?

Thanks in advance,
Siva

1. Yes, on H-1B you must pay SS tax and Medicare tax.
3. No, you get benefits only after you retire.
4. Employer must withhold FICA taxes.
