Hi my boyfriend got aressted on a probation violation and he went to court and everything was dropped.. but my aunt said that he would have to wait till a judge signs this off so he can get out... can any one tell me how this works ? It sounds like he was arrested on some new charge, which was droped but becaue he wa on probation, the put a detainer on him?

In those cases yes he still has to have a probation hearing, and they will or could review the evidence from the original charge, Probation has tighter rules and merely being invovled, with certain people and things can get your probation revolked.

No, the PO can not do it, once it is put into place. Only the judge can.

No. A detainer is a hold on a prisoner from another jurisdiction. The prosecutor in THAT jurisdiction can drop the detainer.

You HAVE to go to the Judge. A PO CANNOT lift the detainer.
