Please Help!
Trane XB1000 - A/C w/ Natural Gas Furnace
Mfg. Date 04/96

I recently moved to a new home that has an A/C w/ furnace for the downstairs. It has been running just fine until yesterday. It was working in the AM, I set the thermostat lower to shut off and left it alone. I went to turn in up last night to kick on, and there isn't any power. The A/C (for cool air) doesn't even kick on. I checked the breakers and that all seems good. I have fixed A/C problems before, however, I am not familiar with A/C Furnace combination units. What else can I check to determined why there isn't any power.
I did havfe someone yesterday do some repair work for satellite cabeling, could they have hit something in the crawl space that I should look for?

Please help - it's a bit cool @ night.

It is possible they may have knocked the thermostat wire loose or even shorted it and blown the fuse or transformer. Most transformers are protected by a fuse, inline or an automotive style blade on on the control board. If you don't have any power at all to the furnace, recheck the breaker. Sometimes you have to turn one all the way to off and back on. Also look for a fuse near the furnace, and then inside for one. If you don't find anything, or a new fuse blows immediately, follow the cable from the furnace to the thermostat, and look for damage. Also, try jumpering the R and W terminals at the furnace. If there is problem with the wires or the thermostat, the furnace should come on. Let it run for a while, and then you will have a warm house to work in.

If you have power to the thermostat, but not out of it, it is bad.
