I live in a split level house and in between two bedroom walls we can hear a dripping noise. I hear it throughout the middle of the night and into the morning (before any of the plumbing is used), but in the middle of the afternoon, I hear nothing. Below the bedrooms are a garage and a laundry/mudroom. There are no water marks on any of the walls, and I can't imagine (although I'm not a professional) that any pipes are between the two bedroom walls. The space above the bedrooms is an open attic (no heating) and there is no signs of water build up there either. I'm worried that we're going to let the water drips continue and build mold throughout the walls. And I'm also not looking forward to the alternative of ripping down the walls. Any ideas?

Only thing I can think of here might be to remove the wooden baseboard at the base of the wall and then cut a small hole in the wall and shine a flashlight in to see if there is anything obvious. If not, it could just be house expansion/contraction issues... maybe?

Afterwards, replace the wooden baseboard and hopefully you won't even know you were there... ;)

I'm off to work now, but will check back on this when I get in...
