Classify each of the following mixtures as a true solution, colloid,or a suspension.
1)sand/water-suspension
2)sugar/water-solution
3)smoke-colloid
4)uncooked egg white-colloid,suspension
5)whipped cream-colloid
I did like this.. Please help!
Thank
What is different between colloid and suspension?
Also,
define what is meant by
1.brownian motion-The random movement of microscopic particles suspended in a liquid or gas, caused by collisions with molecules of the surrounding medium. Brownian motion (named after the Scottish botanist Robert Brown) is the seemingly random movement of particles suspended in a fluid (i.e. a liquid or gas) or the mathematical model used to describe such random movements.
2.tyndall effect-Visible scattering of light along the path of a beam of light as it passes through a system containing discontinuities, such as the surfaces of colloidal particles in a colloidal solution.
Do you think are these two words are correct for chemistry class definition?
Thanks
