Hi, All!
Is it true that some "shady" used car and truck dealers put sawdust in the transmissions of the vehicles that they're selling in order to "smooth out" the performance of the transmissions?
Thanks!

I've not heard of the sawdust being used in transmissions: too many tiny passages.
As far as "shady" tricks, that one is decades old. And I've not heard of it in decades.
There are far too many ways to hide vehicle flaws until a sale is made.
Hopefully, those characters have failed along the way and faded into obscurity.

I think Clough has been watching The Andy Griffith Show--the one where Barney buys a car with a bad transmission loaded with sawdust.
That was a MANUAL transmission. It would never work in an automatic. The clearances in the valve body and clutch packs is to small. They'd get clogged up in 30 seconds.

Not to mention transmissions nowadays use use shift solenoid valves. They are the brains of the operation.
