The utilty room that houses my ejector pump gets smelly when the door is closed. I just bought the house so I don't know much about the system or it's history.

Is there a floor drain in the utility room? Or are you certain the smell is coming from the ejector pit.

No floor drain. I am concerned about the pit. From what I have read it's either venting or seals?
I have the pump out line and a single vent that looks like it ties into the rest of the plumbing venting.

Another concern is when we first got the house the kids were using "Kando" bum wipes that are septic safe. However, after inquiring more, they shouldn't be used with ejector pumps.

Hi Dereks...

As you stated, the kando wipes are not to be used for ejector pumps, but they will NOT cause any issues with odors... ;)

Most likely, the seals have dried out, or were simply not installed correctly to begin with. I would suggest that you orrder a new set of ejector pump seals (may be available at a local plumbing supply store) and redo them... pretty easy project overall.

If venting was the main issue you would probably smell the odor back in the bathroom... not the utility closet.

Let us know if you want to discuss more...
