I was forced by my city to clean up my property as well as two other properties that abutt my property in order to stop a code enforcement lien against my property, I Just Bought from previous owner. (His Mess) Abutt Property owners refuse to pay me for property clean up on there abutt properties. This was not my mess, I had to clean up everything.I have continued to maintain this property for over 10 years now.Squatters Rights? Adverse Possession?Mechainics Lien? (Clean-up and Ten Years Maintenance Fees?) I'm still using and maintaining property even after over ten years.Owners have never talked to or confronted me!

Sorry, no, in fact the city has not right to require you to clean up anything you don't own, unless you are the cause of the debt. They may require you to keep your property clean by code enforcement, but not near by property that you don't own, it can grow 10 feet tall weeds with trash all over, and as long as you did not cause the mess, code enforcement has to go after the owners of that property.

They should thank you for doing it for free, and you perhaps should talk to the city council person and a attorney about the city threatening you illegally.
