Ran into ex boyfriend in the grocery store. He insisted we sit down and have coffee. Then shocks me by claiming he misses me and it was a big mistake to break up. He says he never should have let me go. I'm not a teenager, I'm 41 years old, but I don't know what I should do. I had reached the point where I was just about over him. Now he wants to get back together?? Should I go out with him? Should I risk it? Am I stupid if I start seeing him again. Please help.

Depends on the breakup, and if the old issues are still there,he broke your heart before, can you trust him.

If you decide to go back down that road, take things VERY slow, its all to easy to fall into the same relationship pattern as before with an ex.

New day,set the boundries, your not a young teenager, and don't be willing to put up with rushing.

I was in your situation. My ex asked me to a friendly dinner, which it was. We were together for 4 years and he was my best friend so going out with him was very warm and familiar. I enjoyed seeing him and talking to him but it was also very hard. He was hinting at getting back together the whole time. But we broke up for a reason, reasons that probably will never change. I think it's hard to see those reasons when you're lonely. I still love him and miss him a lot, so the week following our dinner date was fairly lonely and depressing. But I know that I'm probably better off without him. Listen to what your head is saying and good luck.

A guy who broke up with you once, can break up with you again. If you feel like you should get together, go ahead, but make sure that he's clear on one thing: you are just getting together for coffee, not for a relationship. Be cautious.

You know, sometimes life is about getting a second chance. Sometimes people change, they prove that they've matured, made the wrong decision, and want to make it up. Sometimes you should give someone a second chance.

But, we're not going to advise you to do something without really knowing more about the situation.

Can you tell us more about why you two broke up? What happened to the relationship?

Once we know more, we'll try and help. :)

That your having confusion is a clear warning to give this some careful thoughts. He sure is moving fast don't you think?

Take your time and weigh the pros and cons of his request, because as you say your no thrill seeking teen any more.
