Your motor is stalled. When it stops, you tripped the thermal overload. When it starts working again, the thermal overload has resetted itself.

Here's what you need to check:
1. Pull the pump off and see if it runs. If it does, something jammed up the pump and you need to replace the pump.
2. If the pump is good, pull the motor off and try turning the gearcase in either direction several times. Does it move freely or is it locked? If the gearcase doesn't turn, then you need a new one.
3. If the gearcase is fine, then you probably have a problem with the motor.
