He's 15 and he came to me today and told me he has a demon who calls itself the puppet master. I'm not to keen on prayers or the bible in general but I know that's what he needs to help so please can anyone help?

Sounds like he needs counseling, not spiritual intervention. Thinking there is something controlling you or possessing you is a sign of several mental illnesses, including schizophrenia. He needs diagnosed so he can start treatment, and probably meds.

Well he has a diagnosis and its not schizo.. believe me I thought he was just crazy to, but I think there's more to it than that.

Sounds like his treatment plan needs reworked, or meds changed.

First of all, watch your attitude.

Second, if he's been diagnosed with a mental disorder then how the heck do you think that prayers will help? Are you thinking exorcism, because that would be pretty hard to do over the internet (yes, I'm being sarcastic).

Your brother needs help, and if you believe in the power of prayer then great, pray for him while he's get medical help!

If you're not very religious how do you know he needs prayers?

Are you aware that a full ritual Exorcism requires several psychiatric evaluations and failed treatment protocols before the Archbishop even gets a phone call?

How much more likely is it that your brother needs his treatment regime adjusted rather than resorting to faith healing?

I am one of the first people to admit that spirits and magic and many other aspects of the paranormal exist. I have even been known to suggest alternative treatments for various conditions.

I do NOT, however, think that prayer, faith healing, magic, or any other form of non medical treatment is a viable option in matters of actual physical or mental illness.

Alternative treatments can be used to treat minor afflictions; like cuts and scrapes or temporary emotional upset.

ANY condition with ANY possibility of long-term effects, including mental illness, needs to be treated MEDICALLY, first and foremost. Alternative treatments in conjunction with contemporary medicine is fine, as long as it's ok'd by the doctor.

Since your brother has already been diagnosed with a mental illness, I think it's safe to assume that he is either currently in treatment, or was in the past. Since that is the case, I think it is also safe to assume that there was behavior that prompted treatment to be sought in the first place.

This behavior, the belief that there is a demon inside him, needs to be brought to the attention of whoever is, or was, proving him treatment. Your parents also need to be made aware of the situation.

Your brother needs to see his doctor. His doctor can rule out any possibility that his mental state is being influenced by what he watches or reads.

I would also be very careful that your brother isn't trying to pull a 'prank' on you since he probably knows about your other 'spirit issues'.

You may not be keen on prayer or the Bible, but I think you do have some Beliefs that may be affecting how you perceive his issues.

He's only bi polar.and it has been brought to the attention of his doctors before and they did say it was him making an excuse for his behavior... trust, I didn't believe him about all this non sense before because I'm not to religious, but the way he came to me yesterday made me rethink my opinion and see if there's anything I could do to put his mind at ease. And no, my brother has no idea about the other spirit issues, that didn't happen at this house. Thank you all for your answers but the really had no help. I didn't want an exercism I just wanted to give him a little prayer to say whenever he gets scared, not dope him up.

Then all you need a short matra. Something like, 'you are not real, I control my own actions,' should be work.

He can try this one:

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Hi, kate88!

Mental illnesses can have many forms and also evolutions.

I would suggest that your brother see his physician again. I will also pray for your brother.

I would also suggest that you get him on the prayer list at a church as well as have him visit with a pastor at a church in addition to having him see his physician again.

Thanks!
