Can a babysitter file a tax return if she was paid cash through the year and does not have a W2? Are copies of those cash receipts enough?

And what would be the purpose of filling a return. A tax return is called a RETURN because its used to get a return of over withheld amounts. If you were paid cash then you had no withholding. Unless the parents filed 1099s or paid taxes on your behalf, there is no need to file a return.

Of course with the number 16, I have to guess you are a high school student that made a little money baby sitting.

If you are a adult and provided unlicensed day care ( baby sitting) while their parents worked and we are discusing 1000's of dollars then that makes a difference
