I've heard that French is widely spoken in certain areas in the U.S.A. I know that it is spoken in areas of Louisiana, Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire. I was wondering if it is similar to Canadian French and if there are any other areas where it is widely spoken.

French is a second language in most of Canada. In the Eastern provinces of Quebec they speak Québécois, or mostly throughout Quebec. Someone coming over from France can understand Canadian french.

It is widely spoken in Canada. Does that answer your question ?

Maybe I phrased the question wrong, I'm from Canada and I wanted to know about areas where French is widely spoken in the U.S. I know it is common in Louisiana, Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire. I wanted to know if there are any other states or cities where it is widely spoken.
