Add the desired outcome and divide it by the whole

We don't do homework here, it's against our rules.
Tell us what you think the equation is, post your work and then we can help you.
If we do it for you you'll never learn and believe me, we won't be there on test day.

No, don't worry, you're fine. You didn't give her the answer, you just suggested how to do it.
The rules are that we won't give the answer. We can look at the work, we can tell them where they're going wrong, what the next step is, but we will not do the work and give the answer.
You did fine.
Now we just have to wait for the OP to come back and show us her work. :)

4/15+2/15= 6/15=2/6

How did you reduce from 6/15 to 2/6?
There are no common divisors.

Also, from where are you getting your numbers? Remember, you are trying to find yellow and green

7 /15 is the answer
EmoPrincess
Jan 26, 2010, 07:34 PM
yup yup, because the part is yellow AND green, so 3+4=7, and the whole is the total, 15

You're welcome.
And now maybe Anette understands why we have this rule. Now when there's a test, Anette will kick butt because she'll know how to do it.
So forgive me if I was harsh in the beginning, it's just that we get too many homework questions where the person expects us to do their homework for them. Heck, the other day we had a guy asking us to write his essay for him. Ya right!
One thing about this site is that we actually care. We don't just want to give you the answer and send you on your way. We want you to learn so that you can do it yourself. And, when you have learned, you can pay it forward, come back and help someone else. :)
It's a win win.

Else it'd be a fail fail (sorry bad pun!)
