I want to convert ZnBr2 to NaBr and ZnCl2.
Here are my thought on a 2-step reaction:
(1) ZnBr2 + NaHCO3 = ZnCO3(s) + NaBr
(2) ZnCO3 + 2HCl = ZnCl2 + H20

Is this correct??

Where did the hydrogen from the first reaction go?

Also, do you need pure and dry samples of the salts, or only need to obtain them in theory?
