I have never written or cashed a check. I don't really know what to do. I pasted a blank check above, a link. Can someone help me fill it out. What do I write? Also if I got a check all filled out where do I go to cash it? How do I cash it? What is a money order? How do I get one? What can you do with them?

Hi, Dee_184!

What is posted below, is from the following site. Even though it's geared to Canada, how to fill out a check is pretty much the same, no matter where it's done.

Step 1 Include your name and address in the top left corner. If the information has not already been printed or has changed since the check was printed, write it in now.

Step 2 Write the date of the transaction on the check. Do not post date or write a future date on the check. Simply record the day, month and year the check is written. This date must reflect the day the check is passed on to a Canadian merchant or second party.

Step 3 Complete payee information. The payee is the name of the Canadian merchant or person the check is written to and is the line located in the center of the check.

Step 4 Write the payment amount as a numeric expression as well as in word form. For example, you would write "$50.00" after the payee line and then follow with "Fifty dollars" on the line directly beneath the payee line.

Step 5 Add a memo or move to the right of the line and sign the check.

Step 6 Verify banking information. If you bank with the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), the bottom of the check will have a 3-digit check number, followed by a five digit transit number and a 6-digit account number. The RBC logo and address where the account is held will appear together above the memo line on the left side of the check.

Hopefully, others will also come along to address your questions.

Thanks!

If you have money in our account, you can cash the check through your own bank. For example, if you have a check for $200, and you have at least that much in your own account already, your bank will usually let you cash it. If you don't have the amount in your account already, you should be able to go to the bank the check came from. Like the other day, I needed to cash my paycheck. The company I work for banks with wells fargo so I had to go to wells fargo, show them my ID, and they cashed the check for me. If you're ever unsure about cashing a check you can always ask your bank for more specific details.
