I have used two of these units to heat the basement for many years. You can't get anything like this qualitywise anymore. You push the on switch and then turn on the thermostat, you get a delay antil heatiing element warms up, then fan starts. All controls including thermostat are in the unit. I did some checking with my Greenlee tester and when "start" switch is pressed the wires to the thermostat get the current. The unit is model #WA 40, 4000 watts, 240 volts, their catalog #5990W. I know that Singer was purchased by "Carrier Air Conditioner" at one time. Any help with regards to obtaining parts or repairing unit will be greatly appreciated.

On those old units I think you are out of luck on parts unless someone has a old one you can rob parts off on places like Ebay.

The name brand sales string. Singer sold to Arco Aire, then sold to ICP , then sold to Carrier.

It is a shame that some of the old but great equipment can no longer be serviced since you cannot find parts. There are many universal parts available and sometimes you can find a old guy with a fixit shop that can make something work to be able to put it back in service. Good luck.
