Hello: Thanks for your previous answers on how to back out of selling, now buyers and myself agreed to back out but I don't know what the agent is going to want and how much they can ask for. My contract w/them was for 6 months and now I want to terminate it as I am not going to sell ever. Would I pay them on a percentage basis? I was with them for one month and this buyer was the first one to see and accept offer. I don't think they put in much legwork. Are they paid by the hour? Or what should I expect to pay them? Ball park figure maybe? House was up for $320.000. Thanks for any input, Dolores

So if either party backed out of the contract for a valid reason allowed in the contract, then there would be nothing owed.

If there was a valid contract, and one side wanted out, but there was not a valid reason, but the other side let them out, you could still owe the full commission to the agent.
