View Full Version : Replace Basement Shower

I want to replace an old basement shower with a shower kit. The existing shower drain appears to be just a regular floor drain to which the concrete floor was sloped. The slope is pretty severe and I think it may be too much for the pan of the kit. My question is: Can I raise drain to the heigth need by adding a flange or something and then using self-leveling cement around it to bring that portion of the floor up? I am trying to avoid having to break up the concrete floor and reset a new drain.

Sorry! Get out the jackhammer!
Your floor drain not only has to come up and a trap and raiser installed but the trap must be moved to accommodate your new shower base.
Good luck, Tom

Tom,
Not the answer I hoped for. Looks like I'm going to have to roll up my sleeves a little more than I wanted. Thanks, Jim
