I saw this movie late one night in the 1990's, I think. It was set in the future. It seemed to start showing a house with an address or something like 1000. Then it shows a normal floor in an office building, but one man kept getting flashes or visions that things like the computers were just cardboard boxes with UPC scan codes on them. There was a large satellite dish pointing at his city beaming some kind of brain washing signal to the people in the city. There may have been a pill or medicine that everyone had to take to make them susceptible to the brain altering signal. When the man saw everything as it really was the town he lived in was very dirty and run down. He found the factory that was making the boxes and beaming the signal and started to destroy it. In the end, with everyone seeing the town as it really was, they started to venture out of the town to see the rest of the countryside.
What was the name and year of this movie? I have been looking for it for years.

Thanks for the tip. I viewed Virtual Nightmare (2000) (With Czech audio) and it was very similar to the one I saw, so one of them must be a remake. I must have seen an older version of this Australian one.

I am still looking for the one I saw, and now I am also looking for the 2000 one with English audio.
