We're in Pennsylvania, and our lease states:
After the second year (if Tenant continues to live on Property), Landlord must keep the security deposit in an escrow account that earns interest. Landlord may keep 1 percent of the interst. Landlord must pay Tenant the balance of the interest once a year."
We have been residents at this property for just under seven years, but we have never received any money from our landlord. We are ending our lease as of February 14th and know our landlord is obligated per our lease contract to return our security deposit within 30 days, but what can we do about this missing interest? I did mention in our "intent to vacate" letter that we had questions regarding this, but to date, our landlord has not responded to this even though he left a message on our answering machine acknowledging he received our letter.
