Noticed this about 2 yrs ago. I am at stoplight and push on accellarator and it won't go.I let off slightly and it moves very slowly.I have been told it is downshifting while idle.problem 2-What would cause the battery to have to be recharged ? I drive it about once a week. I have replaCED THE bATTERY,FUEL INJ, AND FUEL PUMP.tHE ALTERNATOR CKS OUT OK.WOULD THE COMPUTER BE FAULTY? PLEASE HELP ME,tHE CAR RUNS GREAT STARTS GREATand looks great in and out. . EVERYTHING UNDER THE HOOD WAS REPLACED IN 2004.DUE TO MINOR OIL LEAKover 10 years. I am the only owner. I HAVE 415,000 MI. I would appreciate any valid reasons.Thank you. Gina

Gina, have any of the rubber hoses been replaced after all these years? I'm thinking of the one that goes from the air filter box to the throttle body where your accelerator cable is.
A tear in that will open an air leak and cause a major hesitation.

A transmission fault also comes to mind. Starting in a higher gear than it should would explain your issue.
Have the transmission test drove and diagnosed.

After all them miles it's certainly possible that the computer is worn out. Capacitors leak onto circuit boards and cause all kinds of problems. Have the codes checked to be sure.

I also think you have a parasitic draw on the battery overnight. Vanity mirrors, trunk lights, worn out old radios were some of the common draws I found back in the day.
Have a battery drain test performed to be sure.

And getting back to your hesitation thing, make sure the ignition system is re checked. THE most common thing on these old Camry's. The coil to be exact.

And congratulations on achieving the high mileage club on a great old car!

415K is great!
Yeah, and you noticed two years ago?? That sounds like some of my previous customers! Hehe!

Who did what?
You replaced the "FUEL INJ"?
Who replace the fuel pump? And why?
I always wonder...
