I need to know if its true that if some one is on ssi you can't collect child support! The father of my children is taking me to court to get the support stopped because he is on ssi! Please I need an answer asap! Thanks so much!

Please pay more attention to posting guidelines. There is a Read First sticky in the Children forum (where this was moved from) that directs questions of a legal nature to this forum.

Child Support is based on income levels. If someone is only on SSI, they may be below those income levels. But if not they can be required to pay.

If the person receives SSI and that is their only source of income then yes it is true that support will be stopped. And to be on SSI you have to be below a certain income level (not make enough other money). So, if he has a part time job then that income can be calculated into support but SSI is exempt.
