Be straight forth, sincere and polite... respect their time. Tell them who you are, name of your company and what you do. Don't be cute or coy. Ask them up front if they are interested in your service. Don't go into a lot of detail just enough to get them interested and set an appointment.

Do not get discouraged, cold calls on the phone is really a numbers game, get used to 'no.' It may take 50 to 100 calls to set 5 to 10 appointments and if you close 3 out of 10 appointments your bid to close ratio will be fine.

Hi, Millie69!

Please know that Stringer is one of the best in the industry! His advice is as good as gold and second to none!

Do you have a website and how else do you advertise, other than cold calling on the phone, please? What I post on the Internet, is part of how I sell what I do, where I do it. I do get results.

I get a lot of emails asking me about what I do, where I do it. I try to respond to them quickly. I almost never give a price, without first seeing what needs to be done.

Now, that's not concerning cleaning, but it carries over into most types of businesses where a person needs to "sell" what they do.

Yes, it's important to not speak too much and let the potential customer think about things based upon your brief and concise information that you've given to them when you're trying to make the sale.

Thanks!
