Hi! sweetvictory, welcome to AMHD :)

Have you tried to turn the steering wheel while turning the key?

Not sure 'bout he RT, but some ignitions have a rod that runs to an interlock switch on the steering column, that may be jammed or broke or the switch itself may be broke. :(

Your welcome!

There are also times that if the tires/steering wheel are left in anything other than straight ahead, there's enough pressure in the linkage that it (the pressure) won't allow the ignition switch to turn.

Vehicles made after 2000 also require sufficient brake pedal pressure to allow a switch to turn.

You may have to jiggle the shifter to set a neutral position.

And last, but not least.
Depending on the age of the key the key itself may be worn.
It can cause problems If you have had an "extra" made without the "key code".

Key dust could've gotten into the switch then the tumblers would need rebuilt or a new switch, and key set purchased and installed.

All these symptoms require an adjustment or replacement to fix.
