Me and my partner are getting married in march this year. He has just been left a house in his grandmother will, the name on the deeds is being changed at the moment into my partner name. We are going to be moving into it but have to get a joint mortgage has it needs some doing up. Is it possible for me to have my name added to the house deeds once we are married.

This site is organized into forums that cover a specific topic. Since we keep posts from the beginning, there is a wealth of information that can be searched. By choosing your forum carefully, you can often find the info you need already posted.

You posted this under the marriage forum, but had you looked further, you would have found this forum (I moved your post here). At the top of this forum is a Sticky Note which deals specifically with your question and provides the answer.

Here is a link to that post:

I will add to this, that adding a spouse to a deed is generally easier. I would check with your local county clerk to see if the deed can be amended.

I would still also check with the mortgage lender.

I mention this to help you use this site more effectively in the future. Also, this is not a chat site. Questions may not be answered immediately. You post your question and wait for someone to answer. This may take minutes, hours or even days in some cases.
