I am having a problem with my shower and I am not sure if it is the balancing spool. I was getting cold water but no hot, I put a new cartridge in it and the balancing spool was stuck so I cleaned it, put it back together and it worked fine for a few days. It went back to having no hot water so I checked the balancing spool again which seemed to be fine and when I re assembled it I now don't ave any water. Can a bad balaning spool stop the flow of both hot and cold water?? Thanks for your time

It shouldn't. It usually gets stuck on either hot or cold side. Lets see what other Experts have to say about it...

I would definitely recheck cartridge installation first.

Sounds like you have faulty temperature balancing spool, this spool has a balancing piston that controls the hot and cold water balance. It is actuated by pressure deferential and by diverting to the shower you are creating a pressure deferential, I would replace the balancing spool, or I may be wrong wait what will other experts suggest, Thanks.

Thanks for the help, I don't think it is the cartridge because I can't get any water with the cartridge out.
