Our furnice broke 4days ago and our landlord is waiting on a warrentied part that could take several more days to come in, in the mean time its freezing in my house. I have 4 children. Is there anything I can do to get him to speed it up or perhaps put us up somewhere its warm until the repairs are done? Its 10 degrees today and below zero at night.

You can call him and ask him these same questions,, does you state, city, have any laws that protect the renter,, ask around,, the local BBB might be able to help, most landlord will at least supply you with some type of portable heat while parts are being located. He should be also concerned with the thought that his water lines could be freezing and doing damage which would cost him even more money

Call the board of health in your area. The landloard has to provide temporary heat usually in the form of electric box heaters until the main heating unit is repaired. This is the law in just about every state.
