I'm sorry, but there are no doctors here. I am the closest thing, I am an RN.
Unfortunately, HIV can take time to rear it's ugly head. I suggest you get tested again in another 6 months, be sure the doctor is either using the ELISA or the Western Blot test.
If that still comes back negative, ask your doctor for his advice as to when and how often you should be tested.

Yes you are fine. I'm not a doctor nor specialist but however I've been in your same shoes and talked to a HIV specialist that's been in the field 20 years. He told me that the FDA does state to wait for the 12th week mark (3months) and if you test negative by then its 97% accurate. But also within 4 to 8 weeks the vast majority of people will have developed antibodies. At 60 days (2months) if enough time to see your real results and for that your HIV negative congrats. Btw I had such bad anxiety that I lost it and really thought I had it sk your not the only one. For piece of mind go back in 4 more weeks and test again, which will be negative!! Good luck

Also as for the RV not trying to be disrespectful but after 3 months (12)weeks mark if you test negative you do not have HIV. There's no such thing to wait for 6 months (24)weeks to test. By the time 3 months(12)weeks mark is there, the test results will be 97% accurate. I talked to two different people in the HIV field face to face and both combined together have over 30 years experience with this disease. Thus is there job and both stated that after 3 months (12)weeks if anyone test negative will certainly be HIV negative. Most people do and do not developed signs and the vast majority of people will develop antibodies by 4-6 weeks after being infected. And more than likely after 8 weeks (2)months after being infected.

Thanks for this, but that thread is over three years old, almost four, and the original poster is not going to read this. Please look at the dates of threads before you post.
