I have judgment against someone but to file garnishment I must know there bank name and since he works under the tabler how do I get his bank name?

you should try to file against where he works under the table. If you can prove he works there, after they were served, the place of business could be liable for payment personaly.

You hire a PI to do a background, you fiile with the court to order him to supply that info.

I think the terminology depends upon the jurisdiction.

If you want an order addressed to the bank requiring the bank to pay to the court what, if anything, he has on deposit there, you definitely need to know the identity of the bank.

You might consider sending him a $1.00 check (get a friend to write the check for you so your judgment debtor doesn't know it's from you.) and, if he takes the bait and deposits it, your friend's bank can tell your friend what bank it was deposited in.

You have run up against the Catch 22 of small claims court. Winning a judgment is often the easiest part. Collecting is the hard part.

Many such companies know how to hide their income so they don't have to worry about such things.

One possibility is to check with the local consumer affairs dept. Some areas require such contractors to be licensed and insured. If so, their insurance carrier will be on file and you mat be able to file a claim with them. Also, he may decide to pay if it means losing his license.
