I don't think you read my question. The flame is not IN the dryer it is BEHIND the drum. You can see it through the holes in the back of the drum.If it was IN the dryer the load would be on fire.If someone with knowledge of dryer repair could answer I'd appreciate it...

I did read your original post correct, but unfortunately used the wrong terminology. I knew it wasn't IN the dryer, but behind the drum. My question to you is, why would you have flames in any part of your dryer ?

A flame cannot be anywhere near your dryer, no matter what it is driven by.

Something is seriously wrong with your dryer if you see flames in any shape or form.

I have my dryer in my kitchen, right beside my washer. If I saw flames anywhere near my dryer, in or out, then I would turn everything off, and call the fire department.

I hope one of our experts responds to your question, and I hope I am wrong to assume that this is a really very unusual question from a person that has some particular brains in their head.

It is a good thing that gas driven dryers, or any appliances other then stoves, are not allowed anywhere near a closely packed community.
