I live in SC. I took out an online payday loan with a company located in Nevies, West Indies. I quit putting money in my bank account because they would not stop with the withdrawals. They would not set up payment arrangements with me either. That was in October. Now today I received a call at work they they will send a wage garnishment request to my employer today if I don't work out payment arrangements. I tried but now they want a credit card number and I don't have one so they won't accept anything else. I know they can't legally garnish my wages in SC. What else can I do?

Have you reread your contract you signed when you took out the payday loan with these people? There may be a clause in there that permits them to garnish your wages. Re-read it and see what it says.

I don't see anything in there but I've also learned in SC that can be revoked at anytime if there were. All I have to do is send a letter to my HR dept.
