My period was suppose to start a little over a week ago. I waited and took the test yesterday, and it showed a faint but distinct 2nd line which still means it's positive. I set up an appointment to get a test at the health department today and bought another pregnancy test to use in the morning. When I got home and went to the bathroom, I noticed some bleeding, light pink. I have been having slight discomfort though not quite a cramp on and off for a few days, but nothing more. My period has never been more than a day or two late and I've never missed a period either. Also when I have my period I cramp pretty bad the first day and that's it. The bleeding and discomfort/cramps I'm having aren't as close to as strong/intense as it is for my period. Should I take the test in the morning anyway and go to the appointment as well, just in case?

I would take the test. Bleeding in early pregnancy isn't uncommon. The cramping worries me, but if it's not bad then I'd say that falls in the normal range as well.

Definitely keep the appointment. It could very well be that you are indeed pregnant but you're having a miscarriage. You will want to get things checked out.

Good luck.

The cramps haven't been bad, I'd say 1 out 10 on a scale of pain, just enough to know that they're there. It went up a tad when the bleeding starting, but still just only slightly uncomfortable. Really, I'm wondering since I've never been pregnant before and my husband and I haven't made any plans to have a baby yet (we've only been married since October 31st, about 2 months, though we've had unprotected sex since last April/May). I'm not really stressing and just trying to be cautious if I am/might be; I've actually been trying to keep my hubby from stressing about it, and he thinks I'm nuts for not freaking out like he is.

Well, took the test this morning and it showed as a flat-out negative, not even a hint of a 2nd line. So either I did have a miscarriage, or my period just decided to be spontaneous this time. Kind of leaning towards the miscarriage though, since I've noticed that there's chunks of blood every time I go to the bathroom, when it's normal for me to only have that every once in a while (not every time). I'm not sure about going to the appointment, I'll see how I feel in the morning.

It's best to go, get checked out, tell the doctor exactly what happened. They may want to check that everything has passed.

I'm sorry it ended this way. Don't let it discourage you.

Good luck.

Went to the appointment and the test came out negative. My mom mentioned going to a doctor to get a pap and sonogram, so that even if I'm not pregnant I should be able to see if there might be anything else that's causing my period to be late (if the bleeding isn't actually my period that's just a couple weeks late), like an infection or something. My mom had cysts on her ovaries before and after having her 5 kids, so it'd be a good thing to check and see if I have a good chance of getting that as well. I'll be a bit bummed if I'm not pregnant, but I'll also get to see if there is anything I need to know about.

I hope everything works out for you.

Statistics show that many women miscarry their first pregnancy, most of them don't even know that they were pregnant.

To me it really sounds like an early miscarriage, that doesn't necessarily mean that you'll have problems carrying a pregnancy to term later on.

Getting testing done is never a bad idea, find out if you have anything going on so you can deal with it now.

I wish you all the best. Keep us posted, let us know how everything goes. :)
